
The National Conference for Catechetical Leadership, in partnership with OSV, is proud to announce, Magnify! This 4-month event will explore the Directory for Catechesis and assist catechists in finding practical ways to apply the document in their ministry setting.

Lost password?Magnify is a series of virtual events over a 4-month span that will introduce participants to the new Directory for Catechesis and explore each of the chapters in depth. Magnify begins with a 2-day virtual event September 18th and 19th. Magnify continues with 1-day virtual events in the months of October, November, and December. Each of these events will offer:
- Keynotes from leading experts in the field.
- Workshops that break open each section and chapter of the Directory for Catechesis and provide tools for practical application of those insights.
- Resources that focus on different methodological approaches that can be applied to a variety of ministry settings (ie: parish or diocesan work, virtual or in-person gatherings).
- Opportunities for dialogue with presenters and other participants. This will include ways to gather in peer groups that align with your ministerial role or area of focus.
- Opportunities for prayer, including a Rite of Commissioning for Catechists (during the September gathering).

Hosffman Ospino, PhD is an Associate Professor of Theology and Religious Education at Boston College, School of Theology and Ministry where he serves as Chair of the Department of Religious Education and Pastoral Ministry (DREPM) and Director of Graduate Programs in Hispanic Ministry. Dr. Ospino has been the principal investigator for several national studies on Hispanic Catholics. He is currently advancing a national study on Latino Catholic vocations. He has authored/edited 13 books and more than 120 essays, academic and general. Sr. M. Johanna Paruch, FSGM grew up in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada. She is a member of the Sisters of St. Francis of the Martyr St. George. Sr. Johanna earned an undergraduate degree in deaf communication. She holds a BA in theology and elementary education from St. Louis University and an MA from the Angelicum, awarded after completing studies at Notre Dame Catechetical Institute. She also earned the Pontifical Catechetical Diploma. She has completed her doctorate at Maryvale Institute, Birmingham, England.
Sr. Johanna has been involved in catechetics in all its forms, at every level. She began her catechetical apostolate as a 7th and 8th grade classroom teacher. In addition to teaching all subjects including religion, she organized a group of interested students into “Harmony.” This group of hearing-impaired junior high school students performed both popular and religious songs in American Sign Language.

She holds a doctorate in Religious Education and has served in catechesis and education at the parish, high school, undergraduate and graduate levels for over twenty years. Jem is the author of three books from Our Sunday Visitor: A Study Guide to the United States Catholic Catechism for Adults; The Beauty of Faith: Christian Art in the New Evangelization; and Opening the Door of Faith: A Catechist’s Guide to the New Evangelization. As catechetical consultant she has authored adult faith formation programs and catechetical resources for various dioceses. She writes for various publications on catechetical themes, particularly relating to faith and culture. Jem has served as docent at the National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC where she led public tours of the museum’s masterpiece collections.
