A note from NCCL’s Board of Directors:

Denise UtterNCCL Board of Directors

I am pleased to announce that Justin Huyck has been appointed Secretary of the NCCL Board of Directors. Our bylaws and governance policies outline a process to implement when a board position becomes vacant before the end of a term. One of our recently-elected executive officers, Ellisa Hayes, Secretary of the Board, resigned that position due to personal concerns; we pledge our prayers for Ellisa and her family. The Board of Directors acknowledges the Representative Council’s previous recognition of Justin’s charisms and skills and approve his appointment to complete this three-year term.

Justin Huyck is Pastoral Associate and Director of Adult Faith Formation at St. Michael the Archangel Church in Canton, Ohio. Previously, he served communities in Albany, NY, Chicago, IL, and Kingston, Ontario. Justin’s ministry experience encompasses supporting adult faith formation as well as a wide spectrum of parish life and pastoral initiatives, including liturgy, faith formation with children and families, and youth and young adult ministries.

He also serves on a number of ministry teams and committees for the Diocese of Youngstown, including the Council for Catechesis, diocesan evangelization retreat team, and lay ministry formation. He is active in local interfaith and ecumenical projects, as well.

Justin has served NCCL as a member of Representative Council (Parish Catechetical Leader Rep for the Province of Cincinnati/State of Ohio). He has also served as Co-Chair of NCCL’s Product Development Committee, supporting the re-launch of the Effective Catechetical Leader series with Loyola Press, Echoes of Faith Emmaus Edition with RCL Benziger, and Catechetical Sunday toolkit and videos with NCCL’s various publisher corporate members, Catholic Relief Services, NFCYM, and NCEA.

Justin is a graduate of Cornell University and holds an M.A. in Theology from the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. He is the author of From Home to Home: Finding Meaning in Mobility from Little Rock Scripture Study. He and his wife Julia (a hearing science professor at Kent State University) have two children.

Please help us welcome Justin Huyck!

Blessings,

Denise Utter,

President of NCCL Board of Directors
